Shodo, the Japanese art of calligraphy
 MUSHA (WARRIOR) This pair of kanji (characters) means “musha” and refers to a samurai warrior. The first kanji (mu) means “strength,” “bravery,” or “weaponry” and the second kanji (sha) means “person.” |
 MEI-YO (HONOR) Mei-yo means honor. Mei means “reputation” and yo means “to admire – an admired reputation. Honor was one of the most imporatant samurai virtues. |
 MAKOTO (TRUTH) The Japanese kanji or character for makoto or “truth”, which can also mean “sincerity” or “truthful heart”. |
